Museo del Barro is one of Asuncion's strongest museums, with Paraguayan art ranging from pre-colonial ceramics and textiles to bold contemporary work. The collection gives more texture to the country than a simple history museum can, especially in its mix of Indigenous, colonial, popular, and modern art.
It is worth the trip out from the centre if you want to understand Paraguay through objects, images, and craft.
