The main street of Filadelfia, named — like much of the early Mennonite cartography — for the German Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg. The avenue runs north–south through the centre of town: wide, palm-lined, with low brick administrative buildings on either side and the cooperative supermarket and offices anchoring the middle.
It is the social heart of Filadelfia, such as it is — a slow promenade in the cool of the evening, watching dust drift in the orange light.
