Mirador de Shallapa is the simple walk to do if you want to see how Chavín sits in its valley. The trail climbs west of town and usually takes less than an hour up, depending on altitude and pace.
The view helps connect the modern town, the ceremonial centre, and the surrounding ridges. Take water and do not rush; Chavín is over 3,000 metres above sea level.
