Iquitos has a range of restaurants along and near the Plaza de Armas. Local Amazonian dishes include ceviche de paiche (a large Amazonian fish), juane (rice with chicken wrapped in bijao leaves), and tacacho (mashed plantain balls). Fresh tropical juices are ubiquitous — look for maracuyá, carambola, camu-camu, and cocona.
La Querencia Parrillada (Napo 138, half a block from the Plaza) is well regarded for steaks and grilled meat; English menus available. Kikiriki (Napo 159) is a popular rotisserie chicken restaurant, open from 6pm. El Huasai (Fitzcarrald 131) is a local favourite for set lunches at good prices, busy with business people between 1 and 2pm.
