El Mochica is one of the most popular cevicherías along the Huanchaco beachfront, known for generous portions and reliably fresh fish. The ceviche de corvina (sea bass marinated in lime with red onion and ají amarillo) is the dish to order; so is the tiradito, the Peruvian-Japanese variant that strips the onion and adds a creamier, chillier leche de tigre.
Lunch is the main event — the kitchen opens at noon and most tables are full by 1pm. Arrive early or expect a wait on weekends.
