Museo del Mar is a small natural history museum focused on marine science and seafaring. The collection is most useful as a context stop for Cumaná's long relationship with the Gulf of Cariaco, with displays on sea life, nautical themes, and unusual specimens such as a coelacanth.
It is not a large museum, but it adds a different angle to a city better known for forts, churches, and waterfront views.
