Algiers is well connected by air, sea and land. Most visitors arrive by plane.
By air — Houari Boumediene International Airport is about 17km southeast of the city centre. Air Algerie is the national carrier, and over 15 international airlines serve the airport with connections to Europe, the Middle East and West Africa.
By ferry — Regular services run from Marseille and Nice in France, as well as from Alicante in Spain and Palermo and Naples in Italy. Ferries Algerie and other operators carry both passengers and vehicles. The crossing from Alicante is the shortest.
By train — Algiers Central Train Station in the city centre has daily services to other Algerian cities. There is a daily train east to Constantine and Annaba, with a connection to Tunis. Trains are inexpensive and reasonably comfortable.
By road — All major highways lead to Algiers. Bus services connect the capital to most Algerian cities. Border crossings from Tunisia and Morocco exist but can be slow; check that the Algerian-Moroccan border is open before planning a crossing.
