Spring and autumn are the best seasons for Jijel. April to June brings green hills, mild walking weather, and a coast that has not yet filled with summer holidaymakers. September and October keep the sea warm while the worst of the heat and crowds begin to ease.
July and August are beach season, lively but busy. Winter is mild by inland Algerian standards, though rain is common and the sea can be rough; it is a good time for empty roads and moody coastal scenery rather than swimming.
