By air: The nearest airport is Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, roughly 100km to the west. There is no commercial airport in Tizi Ouzou itself. From Algiers airport, the most practical onward option is a taxi or shuttle to the Tizi Ouzou bus and taxi stations — expect to spend two to three hours depending on traffic, which can be severe on the coastal motorway. Air Algérie operates international routes to Algiers from Paris, Marseille, Lyon, London, and other European cities.
By bus: Algiers has several intercity bus stations; buses to Tizi Ouzou depart from the Caroubier terminal in eastern Algiers. The journey takes 1.5–2 hours on a good day. Taxis collectifs (shared taxis) are faster than buses and run throughout the day between Algiers and Tizi Ouzou; they depart when full from fixed departure points. Both options are cheap.
By car: Tizi Ouzou is connected to Algiers via the A1/CW30 motorway. The road is generally good but traffic through the Algiers suburbs can add significant time. Driving yourself allows flexibility for exploring the surrounding villages, though road quality deteriorates sharply on mountain routes.
From Béjaïa: The city of Béjaïa to the east is connected to Tizi Ouzou by a scenic mountain road (approximately 2.5 hours by car or shared taxi). This is a beautiful route through the Kabyle heartland and worth doing if you are travelling between the two cities.
