Our Lady of the Desert Cathedral

The Catholic cathedral on Sam Nujoma Road is a more striking building than you'd expect to find in a mid-sized Botswana city. Built in a modernist idiom with strong geometric lines and distinctive African inflections, it serves as the seat of the Diocese of Francistown and is the most architecturally interesting church in the city. The interior is light and simply furnished; visitors are welcome outside of services. It's worth a look if you're walking past, and the surrounding block is one of the quieter corners of central Francistown.
