Francistown is not a city where you need a week's itinerary, but it has more substance than a pure transit stop. The Supa Ngwao Museum is the clear highlight — it covers the gold rush era, the Kalanga people's history, and the colonial period with genuine depth. Beyond that, the city rewards a wander: the central market is lively and unpretentious, and the Catholic cathedral on Sam Nujoma Road is an unexpectedly striking building.
The Haskins area, one of the older commercial strips, still has a handful of buildings from the early settler period. If you're a football fan, the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium is worth knowing about — it hosts national league matches and the occasional international fixture.
