Ouaga is flat and most of central sights are walkable, but the heat makes long walks miserable from March to June. Green-and-yellow shared taxis trawl the main avenues — flag one down, agree a fare before you get in, expect to share with other passengers. A central trip is typically 500–1,000 CFA.
Yellow shared taxi-mopeds are even cheaper and quicker in traffic. They are also more dangerous; helmets are not provided. Ride-hailing apps work patchily.
For day trips out of town, the easiest option is to hire a taxi for the day (around 25,000–40,000 CFA) or to arrange a car and driver through a tour agency. Driving yourself is possible but the rules of the road are ad hoc.
