La Maison du Peuple

The Maison du Peuple is the main public assembly hall of Ouagadougou — a long, low concrete structure with a sweeping curved roof, designed in the 1960s in the late-modernist style popular in newly independent African capitals. Political rallies, congresses and the occasional concert all take place here.

There is little to see inside outside of events, but the building itself is a fine example of Sahelian modernism, and the long ceremonial frontage with its tribunes and flagpoles photographs well. It sits a few blocks north of the Place de la Nation.
