A walled enclosure on the southeastern edge of the city that brings together fifty or so craft workshops — bronze casters, leather workers, weavers, dyers, wood carvers, jewellers. You can watch the work being done, then buy directly from the artisan; prices are fixed, which is a relief after the Grand Marché.
The compound was set up as a development project to give working artisans formal space and a steady supply of tourist customers. The quality varies, but the bronze pieces in particular are some of the best traditional work you'll find in the country.
