The most popular day or overnight trip from Ngaoundéré is to the Bénoué National Park, a few hours' drive north, with elephants, hippos and antelope along the river. Closer to hand, the crater lakes around Meiganga and the Ranch de Ngaoundaba make for relaxed half-day or overnight escapes.
