Eating Out

Ngaoundéré's restaurant scene is modest but solid — grilled meat, rice and sauce, and a few French-inspired places left over from colonial days. Suya (spicy grilled beef on skewers) is the local specialty; you can buy a portion wrapped in newspaper from street vendors after sunset for a few hundred CFA. The main street running south from the centre has most of the sit-down restaurants and hotel dining rooms.
