The Ranch de Ngaoundaba sits on the rim of a crater lake about 40 kilometres south of Ngaoundéré on the road to Meiganga. The lodge consists of stone bungalows in landscaped gardens, a colonial-era main building with a fireplace, and a small jetty on the lake.
Horseback riding through the surrounding cattle country is the main draw, along with birdwatching, fishing for tilapia and just sitting on the terrace at sunset. The road in is rough but driveable in a 2WD. It is the kind of place where travellers planning a single night end up staying three.
