Fajã d’Agua

Brava fishing village set between steep volcanic cliffs and a sheltered Atlantic bay

Faja d’Agua is a small village on the west coast of Brava, wedged between steep cliffs and a sheltered bay. It is often called the most scenic village in Cape Verde, and it is hard to argue -- the houses line the shore in a sickle-shaped row, with dark volcanic rock rising behind them and the Atlantic out front.

Yachts can anchor in the bay. From the village, walks fan out in several directions: the road up to Vila Nova Sintra, the old bridle path to Nossa Senhora do Monte, or along the coast to the quiet bay at Porto do Portete.
