Mindelo's nightlife is the reason many people visit Cape Verde at all. From Thursday to Sunday, the small bars and clubs along Rua de Lisboa, Rua de Tchom de Marinha, and the side streets behind the Praca Nova fill up with live music — morna, coladeira, funana, occasional jazz — and stay open well past midnight. Cover charges are rare; drinks are cheap; a beer at the bar is the standard ticket.
