Qarat Hilwa is the tomb of Amenhotep Huy, a 19th Dynasty governor of Bahariya Oasis. The painted scenes show family life, offerings, and funeral rites from around 1200 BC, giving the small site a direct human pull that is easy to miss in the desert around Bawiti.
It is best seen with the other antiquities around Bahariya rather than as a stand-alone excursion. Ask locally about access, as opening arrangements can be more informal than at Egypt's major archaeological sites.
