The Look-Out Post is a small historic viewpoint on a low hill east of Bawiti. During the First World War, British forces used the position to watch the surrounding desert and keep an eye on Senussi movements across the oasis.
The site is modest, but the hour-long walk gives a good feel for the edge of Bahariya: palms and village life behind you, open desert ahead. Go early or late in the day, when the heat is kinder and the light is better.
