Things to Do

Annobon's attractions are almost entirely natural. The island is a single shield volcano draped in cloud forest, with three distinct peaks rising steeply from the sea. Quioveo, the highest point at around 655 metres, can be climbed through dense tropical vegetation — a challenging but rewarding ascent with sweeping views of the ocean and the crater lake below. The surrounding waters are exceptionally clear and rich in marine life, making the island a genuine diving destination for those who can get here.

San Antonio de Palé, the only settlement of any size, has a Portuguese-era church that reflects the island's four centuries of colonial history. The beaches around the village are calm and largely empty. The whole island can be explored on foot in a day or two.
