Bisa Abrewa Museum

Small community museum dedicated to Western Region history and culture

The Bisa Abrewa Museum in Nkontompo, a suburb north of Takoradi, is a community museum focused on the cultural heritage of the Nzema and Ahanta peoples of the Western Region. The collection covers traditional artefacts, royal regalia, textiles, and tools, along with documentation of the colonial period and its impact on the region's fishing and farming communities.

It is a modest institution by international standards, but it is one of the few places in the Sekondi-Takoradi area that makes a serious attempt to present local history on its own terms, without the lens of the coastal slave trade that draws most heritage visitors further east. Worth an hour if you have a genuine interest in Ghanaian cultural history beyond the forts.
