Getting There

Gouessesso is genuinely remote. The nearest airport is at Man, with infrequent flights from Abidjan; most travellers come overland.

By road from Abidjan — A long day's drive on the A1 west to Yamoussoukro, then south-west to Man (around 600 km, 8–10 hours). From Man, a taxi or hired car takes you north through Biankouma to Gouessesso — the last stretch is on a graded dirt road, roughly two hours.

By bus — UTB and STIF run overnight services from Abidjan to Man. From Man, share-taxis (woros-woros) run to Biankouma, and from Biankouma you can usually arrange transport on to Gouessesso for a small fee.

The road is reasonable in the dry season (November–April). During the rains, the final stretch to the village can become difficult or impassable in heavy weather.
