Basotho cooking is hearty highland food — maize meal (papa), slow-cooked meat stews, moroho (cooked wild greens), and the rich, sour porridge called lehoala when it's done right. In Maseru you'll also find a decent range of South African and Chinese restaurants, plus a few options aimed at NGO and embassy staff.
Most of the better-known sit-down restaurants cluster on Kingsway and around the Lehakoe Recreation Centre. Eat early — many places wind down by 9pm.
