Mont Lubin

A small town in the hilly interior of the island, set on a ridge with panoramic views across both the northern and southern coasts. The drive up from either coast passes through the island's agricultural heartland — smallholdings growing vegetables, beans, and the lemon grass used in local cooking.

The Wednesday market at Mont Lubin is worth seeking out: smaller and less tourist-aware than the Saturday market in Port Mathurin. The views from the ridge top are among the best on the island — bring a picnic and sit with them for an hour.

A story
Mont Lubin is the administrative centre of the island's interior, perched on a ridge with sweeping views in both directions. The weekly market here is smaller than Port Mathurin's Saturday market but draws from surrounding villages and has a more purely local atmosphere.
