Ifrane National Park

Ifrane National Park covers 1,250 square kilometres of the Middle Atlas plateau between Azrou and Khenifra. It protects the largest remaining stand of Atlas cedar in the world, along with the holm-oak woodlands, alpine lakes, and limestone karst that characterise this part of Morocco.

For visitors, the park is a place for slow exploration rather than headline sights. Several signposted forest tracks make good half-day walks; the high-altitude lakes of Dayet Aoua, Afenourir, and Sidi Ali — the largest at over 700 hectares — are stops on a longer drive. The fauna includes Barbary macaques, wild boar, golden jackal, and the elusive Cuvier's gazelle, recently reintroduced. Park HQ in Azrou can provide a basic map.
