Getting Around

Casablanca is a large city spread across a wide area, and getting around requires some planning.

By tram: The Casa Tramway (T1 and T2 lines) runs across the city from east to west, connecting the main districts and making cross-city travel significantly faster than the alternatives. The tram is clean, frequent, and cheap — the most useful option for longer journeys across town.

By taxi: Petit taxis (red) are metered and cover journeys within the city; always insist the driver use the meter or agree on a price before getting in. Grand taxis cover longer routes and operate as shared taxis on fixed routes from specific stands. Ride-hailing apps (Careem) also operate in Casablanca.

By bus: The CTM and local bus network covers most of the city, but routes and timetables are not always easy to navigate for short-term visitors. The tram is generally easier.

On foot: The central district around Boulevard Mohammed V, Place Mohammed V, the Central Market, and the Old Medina is walkable. Ain Diab is about 5km from downtown along the Corniche — a reasonable taxi or tram ride.
