Skala de la Ville

Sea ramparts with 18th-century cannons and sweeping Atlantic views

The sea bastion at the medina's northwest corner, lined with eighteenth-century bronze cannons aimed across the rocks toward the Iles Purpuraires. Climb the ramparts at sunset for the best view in town: the Atlantic crashing on the headland below, the white-and-blue medina at your back, gulls everywhere. The vaulted thuya-wood workshops tucked under the wall are where most of the carved boxes in the souks are actually made.
