Getting There

Fez is well connected to the rest of Morocco. The train station is in the Ville Nouvelle, ten minutes' walk from Place Mohammed V; ONCF runs comfortable services to Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier and Marrakesh, and the high-speed Al Boraq line reaches Fez via a connection at Kenitra. Long-distance buses (CTM and Supratours) run from a station on Avenue Mohammed V in the Ville Nouvelle; cheaper private buses use the larger Gare Routière just north of Bab Mahrouk. Grand taxis (shared Mercedes saloons) gather around Place Baghadi for nearby towns including Meknes, Sefrou, and Ifrane.

Fès–Saïs Airport is 15km south of the city, with a handful of European routes (Paris, Marseille, Brussels, Madrid) and domestic flights to Casablanca. A grand taxi from the airport into town costs around 150 dirhams; bus 16 runs to the train station for a fraction of that.
