A large artificial basin on the southern edge of the Imperial City, built by Moulay Ismail as a pleasure lake for the court and for irrigating the palace gardens. Today it is a popular afternoon destination for families from Meknes. The surrounding area is quiet and makes a pleasant contrast to the intensity of the medina and the monuments.
