Café du Sud

Local favourite for mint tea and msemen on the main avenue

Address Avenue Mohammed V, Ouarzazate

Café du Sud is one of the most popular local cafes on Avenue Mohammed V, busy throughout the day with Moroccan men playing cards and watching football, and travellers stopping for a break between the bus station and the kasbah. The mint tea is well-made and inexpensive, and the kitchen turns out msemen (laminated flatbread with honey or jam) and harsha (semolina bread) in the mornings. The terrace tables on the pavement are the best place to sit. No alcohol is served.
