Getting There

By air. Ouarzazate–Moulay Ali Cherif Airport (OZZ) is 3 km north of town. Royal Air Maroc operates scheduled flights from Casablanca, and there are seasonal charter connections from European cities. The airport is small, and flight schedules can be thin outside summer and holidays — check availability well in advance.

By bus. CTM and Supratours run daily bus services from Marrakech (around 4 hours via the Tizi n'Tichka pass) and from Agadir and Casablanca with longer journey times. The CTM station is on Avenue Mohammed V in the centre of town. Supratours tickets can be booked through the ONCF railway website alongside train connections.

By shared taxi (grand taxi). Grands taxis run between Ouarzazate and Marrakech when full. The journey takes about 4 hours and is often faster and more flexible than the bus. Taxis for Marrakech depart from the northern end of Avenue Mohammed V.

By road. The N9 from Marrakech crosses the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) — a spectacular but slow drive of about 200 km. The route can be blocked by snow in winter. From the east, the N10 connects Ouarzazate to Boumalne Dades and eventually Tinghir and Errachidia. A 4x4 is not required for the main routes, but the pistes to Ait Benhaddou and various gorge villages are easier with some ground clearance.
