Djebel Sirwa Trekking

Remote volcanic massif with multi-day trekking routes

Djebel Sirwa is a volcanic massif rising to 3,304 metres southeast of Taroudant, offering some of the least-visited multi-day trekking in Morocco. The routes here pass through Berber villages that see far fewer outsiders than the Toubkal area, with genuine agdal (communal pasture) landscapes, wild rose and juniper, and panoramic views of the Anti-Atlas and the Draa valley beyond.

Taroudant is the most convenient base for approaching Sirwa. Guides and mule hire can be arranged in the town, and the standard circuit — three to five days — takes in the summit and several traditional villages. Accommodation is in gîtes or with village families. The best trekking seasons are April to June and September to October, when the weather is stable and the mountain is snow-free. April is best for wildflowers.
