Aglou Plage (15km west) — A quiet Atlantic beach backed by a small fishing village. Often deserted outside summer weekends, with good surf and a very local atmosphere. A grand taxi or rented moped from Tiznit gets you there in 20 minutes.
Tafraoute (90km east) — A valley town deep in the Anti-Atlas, surrounded by dramatic pink granite boulders and almond trees that blossom in February. The Painted Rocks — large boulders spray-painted blue by the Belgian artist Jean Vérame in 1984 — are a short drive from town. Allow a full day or consider staying overnight.
Sidi Ifni (75km south) — A former Spanish enclave perched on a clifftop above the Atlantic. The town retains an art deco centre from its colonial period, with white and blue buildings in varying states of renovation. The beach below the cliffs is long and often empty. Worth a full day.
Anti-Atlas villages — The mountains around Tiznit contain many small Berber villages, several of which host weekly souks. Ask locally for the day and location of the nearest market — these rotate through the week across different villages and are worth seeking out for the social scene and local produce.
