Things to Do

Tiznit rewards slow exploration. The ochre ramparts that encircle the medina are among the best-preserved earthen walls in southern Morocco, and a late afternoon walk along their outside offers good light and a sense of the town's scale. The silver souk is the town's main draw — silversmiths here produce traditional Berber jewellery using techniques passed down for generations, and prices are among the most honest in Morocco. The Source Bleue, the ancient spring that gave rise to the town, anchors the medina's quiet interior, and the Grand Mosque's unusual minaret is worth seeking out for its distinctly West African silhouette.
