Grand Mosque

Tiznit's Grand Mosque has an unusual minaret studded with ostrich eggs and protruding wood spikes — a style that owes far more to West African mosque architecture than to the typical Moroccan or Andalusian forms found in Fez or Marrakech. It is a visible reminder of the trans-Saharan connections that shaped this part of southern Morocco. Non-Muslims may view the exterior from the surrounding lanes; entry to the mosque itself is restricted.
