Getting Around

The town centre is compact and easily walked. The main street (Sam Nujoma Avenue) runs parallel to the beachfront and holds most of the restaurants, adventure operators, and shops. The museum, jetty, lighthouse, and Woermannhaus are all within ten minutes of each other on foot.

Taxis are available for longer trips — to the dunes, the shipwreck, or Walvis Bay. Hire a car if you want flexibility; most of the interesting day-trip territory (Cape Cross, Sandwich Harbour, the Skeleton Coast) requires your own wheels. The adventure operators on Sam Nujoma run organised excursions for those without vehicles.
