Swakopmund divides neatly into two kinds of activity: the historical and architectural, which you absorb on foot through the town centre, and the outdoors and adrenaline, which take you into the surrounding desert and sea. Both are genuinely worthwhile; a day or two covers the town itself, and the adventure activities can fill as many days as you have.
