The Delta Steel Complex at Ovwian Aladja, about 15 km north of Warri, was built in the 1970s as one of Nigeria's flagship industrial projects. The complex and the surrounding village of Ovwian — with its boat yard, wooden ferry jetties, speed boat taxis, and market activity on the river — give a vivid picture of the Niger Delta's mixed industrial and traditional character. The site is accessible by road (20–40 minutes from Warri) or by speedboat from Ogbe-ijaw Market.
