King Fahd Golf Course

Saly's 18-hole golf course, set in the grounds of the King Fahd Palace Hotel, is one of the best in Senegal. The layout winds through tropical vegetation with views toward the ocean, and the course is maintained to a reasonable standard throughout the year. Green fees are accessible compared to European equivalents, and the combination of good weather, warm temperatures, and an immediately accessible beach after the round makes it a genuine draw.

The course is open to non-guests of the hotel. Club hire is available on-site. Tee times can be booked in advance through the hotel, which is advisable during the peak European winter season from December to March. The setting — tall palm trees, red laterite soil, and the scent of frangipani — makes the experience distinctly West African even if the golf itself is standard resort fare.

A story
The King Fahd Palace Golf Course was built as part of a Saudi-funded development project in the 1980s that brought a full resort complex to the Saly peninsula. It remains one of the few 18-hole golf courses in Senegal and draws a steady stream of European golfers who combine sun, beach, and fairways in a single trip.
