Most visitors eat at their lodge or camp, and the better lodges do this well — hearty, farm-style food with local beef and trout. In the foothill villages around Winterton and Bergville there are a handful of informal restaurants and country pubs. The Tower of Pizza near Cathkin Peak is a long-running local favourite; Montusi Mountain Lodge serves a good three-course dinner if you book ahead.
