Central Dodoma is small enough to walk across in under an hour, and most of the sights — the cathedrals, the railway station, the market, Nyerere Square — sit within an easy radius of each other. Heat and dust are the main obstacles.
Beyond the centre, shared dala-dala minibuses run along the main roads to the outer wards for a few hundred shillings. Bajaji (tuk-tuks) are cheap and ubiquitous; agree the fare before you set off. For the wineries on the southern outskirts or the parliament complex on the east side, a bajaji is the simplest option. Standard taxis are available at hotels and outside the bus stand.
