Jamhuri Stadium

Jamhuri Stadium — "Republic Stadium" — is Dodoma's old multi-purpose stadium, used mainly for football matches and the occasional rally or independence-day parade. It is the home ground of Dodoma FC and the smaller central-region clubs. The stadium has been periodically refurbished and is showing its age, but a Saturday match here is a cheerful spectacle: hawkers selling boiled eggs and roasted maize, drummers in the stands, and a crowd that knows everyone on the pitch.

Capacity is modest by Premier League standards — a few thousand — and tickets are cheap. For visitors with even a passing interest in African football, it is a more authentic experience than the bigger stadiums in Dar es Salaam.
