Raskazone, on the long headland that closes the eastern side of Tanga Bay, is the town's nearest beach — a strip of white sand and shaded casuarinas about ten minutes by tuk-tuk from the centre. The water is shallow and warm, the tide retreats a long way at low tide, and the beach is rarely crowded. A few small bars and a handful of guesthouses sit just behind it.
The sand is broken in places by reef rocks (and at low tide by sea urchins), so wear shoes if you plan to wade out. Pair a swim here with a sunset drink at the Tanga Yacht Club, which sits a little further along the same headland.
