Nadoba Market

Weekly market in the Tamberma region — produce, livestock, and local sorghum beer

The weekly market at Nadoba — held on Wednesdays — is the major commercial gathering of the Tamberma region. Batammariba farmers come down from the surrounding hills with millet, sorghum, fonio, peanuts, peppers, goats, and chickens; traders from Kande and further afield arrive with cloth, salt, tools, and small manufactured goods. Sorghum beer (tchoukoutou) is sold in big calabashes from women's stalls along one edge.

The market is genuinely a working event, not a tourist attraction. Dress modestly, ask before photographing, and consider that this is the day many Batammariba meet relatives, settle disputes, and complete arranged marriages. A guide will help you read what is happening; without one, just sit at the edge and watch.
