Formerly known as Entebbe Zoo, the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre sits on the shores of Lake Victoria and serves primarily as a sanctuary for animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. Chimpanzees, lions, rhinos, and crocodiles are all here, and you can watch feedings at scheduled times.
The bird collection is impressive, including a large group of African grey parrots — a species frequently targeted by poachers for its ability to mimic sounds. Several bird observatories are scattered around the grounds. It's a modest place, more rescue operation than polished zoo, but worth a visit if you're passing through Entebbe.
