The Cathedral of the Holy Cross is Lusaka's main Anglican cathedral and one of the city's more formal civic landmarks. Built in 1962 on Cathedral Hill, it became a setting for national ceremonies as well as ordinary worship, which gives it a public role beyond the congregation.
The architecture is restrained, with clean modern lines rather than colonial Gothic. It is a worthwhile short stop if you are already visiting the nearby museum and government district, or if you are interested in how Lusaka presented itself around independence.
