Barbar Temple is one of Bahrain's key Dilmun-era sites, a set of layered Bronze Age temple ruins in the village of Barbar northwest of Manama. The oldest phases go back to the third millennium BC, with later temples built over earlier sacred platforms.
The site is smaller and quieter than Bahrain Fort, but it deepens the same story: Bahrain as a centre of the ancient Dilmun civilisation, tied to trade, freshwater springs, and Gulf religious life. Go in cooler hours, and combine it with Bahrain Fort or Saar if you are building an archaeology day.
