Bahrain's national museum and the best single introduction to the country's history. The building — a striking 1988 modernist block on the Manama waterfront — is itself worth a look. Galleries cover 6,000 years of Dilmun civilisation, pearl diving, traditional crafts and customs, and a good modern art collection. A well-paced visit takes two to three hours.
